How much will my visit cost?
Shalom offers a sliding-fee discount based on your household size and income. Cost is never a barrier to care.
When you come to Shalom, your first step is to meet with a financial counselor who explains the cost of your care and helps you cover it. We’ll help you find out if you qualify for reduced- or no-cost services through programs like Medicaid and the Prescription Assistance Program.

- Based on the 2026 Federal Poverty Guidelines (aspe.hhs.gov).
- Income means your household’s annual earnings, January 1 – December 31.
- A “family” is two or more people who live together and are related by birth, marriage, or adoption.
- Some OB-GYN ultrasounds and procedures, and LARC services, are handled separately — ask a financial counselor.
Your ability to pay
This health center serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income. For more information, please inquire at the front desk.
School-based clinic fees
Services at Shalom’s school-based clinics are free of charge to families, regardless of insurance coverage — thanks to the support of our donors and community partnerships.
How the sliding-fee discount works
Your discount is based on your household size and income compared to the federal poverty guidelines — and you are welcome here no matter what you can pay. If you’re uninsured, our team will also check whether you qualify for Medicaid, HIP, or our Health Advantage program. You have up to 10 days after your visit to bring your income and residency documents to qualify.
What to bring
- A photo ID — state ID, driver’s license, or passport
- Proof of your current address dated within the last 30 days (a lease, mortgage, or utility bill)
- Proof of income — your 5 most recent pay stubs, a Social Security / SSI / SSDI award letter, or last year’s tax return if self-employed
- Your insurance card, if you have one (Medicaid / HIP or private)
- A list of your current medications and any allergies
What to expect
- Arrive about 30 minutes early to complete your registration forms.
- Meet with a financial counselor who walks you through your costs and helps you apply for the discount.
- Your visit may include routine wellness screenings as part of whole-person care — you can always decline any of them.
The No Surprises Act
You are protected from unexpected medical bills. You have the right to know the expected cost of your care before you receive services — ask a Patient Service Representative for a Good Faith Estimate, provided within one to three business days.
